This exceptionally talented Japanese lady has written numerous songs for other artists and worked on the music for more than 200 television commercials! Her first, full-length album Mai is a haunting collection of music, each track features Sugai's voice multi-layered many times. This is the same technique Enya uses to create a full body of sound, one voice sounds like a choir. Eight of the songs are original compositions, while the remaining two are based on traditional Japanese folk songs. Ethnic drumming, Chinese flutes, Koto and washes of synthesiser are to be heard throughout.
